Naomi Watts' on paw patrol! Actress takes huge Great Dane for stroll while shooting new film The Friend in NYC

Naomi Watts and her four-legged co-star were back out on the bustling streets of Manhattan for another day of work on the set of The Friend.

But first up on Thursday, the leading lady was spotted shooting scenes for the drama film by herself decked out in a dark green overcoat over an all-black ensemble that includes black shoes and leather gloves.

With the temperature hovering just over the freezing mark in the upper 30s Fahrenheit, the costume department also had her wear a black-patterned scarf and a matching beret over her shoulder-length blonde locks.

It appears the director duo of Scott McGehee and David Siegel were filming simple scenes of Watts walking along the streets in character.

Eventually, the actress would reappear for a second round of the day’s shoot dressed in a new ensemble and with her furry co-star, Bing the Great Dane, by her side.

Naomi Watts, 55, wore two different ensembles when she hit the bustling streets of Manhattan on Thursday to shoot more scenes for the new drama film The Friend

For round two, Watts’ costume included a gray-patterned overcoat, black sweatpants, a brown beanie cap, a multi-colored scarf and brown ankle boots.

She would be spotted shooting a scene with her massive sidekick as they were coming out a what appeared to be an apartment building

The gentle giant is actually a well trained canine who’s playing the role of Apollo in The Friend, which has been filming on the streets of New York City the last few weeks.

Bing looked cool, calm and collected as he waited for each command from his on-screen owner, who has been taking time outs during each working day to work on proper training techniques with the help from an expert on set.

Watts first teased her relationship with Bing in an Instagram post on January 13, when she and huge dog laid on the floor and sprawled out for a couple of photos.

‘Meet my new friend. More on this soon,’ she initially wrote in the caption to her social media fans and followers.

In her most recent post, just two days ago, where she celebrated her relationship with her four-legged co-star, Watts was photographed giving Bing a sweet kiss during one of their walks during a work day.

In this picture, the Shoreham, Kent, England native, who also grew up in North Wales and Sydney, Australia, was decked out in the very same dark green overcoat, beret, scarf and gloves.

‘Bing— my scene partner who stole my heart on day,’ she said of her beloved scene partner.

Written, produced and directed by Scott McGehee and David Siegel, The Friend is a film adaption of Sigrid Nunez’s 2018 novel of the same name, which won the U.S.’s National Book Award For Fiction, about a woman’s bond with her Great Dane.

This is the eighth time the long-standing filmmaking partnership of McGehee and Siegel have teamed up for a feature movie.

The story follows a writer who adopts a heartbroken Great Dane that had belonged to a now deceased friend and mentor, according to Deadline.

Both the book and the drama film tackle elements of love and friendship, along with the grief and ultimate healing they share while establishing their relationship.

Nunez was inspired to write the novel in part due to acquaintances and friends convinced their lives would end by suicide, according to Wikipedia. In fact, a friend of author’s died by suicide as she was writing the novel.

During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the actress opened up about their work day and how she’s had to work with a trainer throughout each day.

‘I have to have all kinds of doggy trainings,’ she explained. ‘You know, every 20 minutes, we have to go through all of these — these tricks. He can do a lot of things.’

So far, there hasn’t been an official word on when The Friend will premiere.
