The King has to give his seal of approval for anything built on the estate
His Majesty King Charles has approved plans for a luxury glamping site to be installed on Sandringham Estate, with each ‘safari tent’ to include a private veranda and built-in BBQs.
A total of 15 tents will be pitched in a woodland area on the estate, if council bosses approve the planning application, with 28 touring caravan pitches and 12 camping pitches added to the existing site.
Royal sources say the King has to give approval for anything built on the 20,000-acre estate, which is set in a Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is home to the Grade-II listed Sandringham House.
One royal source confirmed the tents would be ‘ultra-luxurious’ and ‘nice enough for the royals themselves to stay in’, according to The Sun.

Speaking to The Sun, the source said: ‘The pitches will be about as far away from the Caravan Club on The Inbetweeners as it’s possible to get.’
The site has been occupied since the Elizabethan era, when a manor house was built, which was replaced in 1771 by the Hoste Henley family.
In 1862, Sandringham and 8,000 acres of land was purchased for Albert Edward, Prince of Wales, later Edward VII, as a country home for him and his future wife Princess Alexandra of Denmark.
It has remained in the Royal family ever since and upon the death of Queen Elizabeth II, the house passed to King Charles III.
In 1977 Queen Elizabeth II opened the house up to members of the public to commemorate her Silver Jubilee.
