A Target store was allegedly caught offering “Black Friday deals” that were no different than the prices the big-box retail chain sets during the rest of the year.
DeJay Downey posted a viral video on TikTok showing her browsing for products at an unidentified Target only to discover that the price tags for Black Friday displayed the same price as those for non-Black Friday deals.
Downey was in the electronics section looking at prices for television sets when she reached her hand for the display showing the prices.
The piece of paper displaying the Black Friday price of $649.99 was the same as the non-Black Friday prices, which was concealed behind the “updated” sales price, according to the video.
“It’s the same, I don’t get it,” she said in the video. “I’m confused.”
Downey noticed that the sales price remained unchanged for several other items.

As of Monday, the video has been viewed more than 38.4 million times. It has generated nearly 60,000 comments and 3.3 million likes.
A spokesperson for Target told The Post that the TVs “were on sale before Black Friday as part of our early Black Friday sales.”

“We continued to offer those items at the same discount during Black Friday, but updated the signage to reflect the extended timing,” the Target spokesperson told The Post.
The company said that “in both instances” shoppers would have saved “between $20-$80 depending on which TV they purchased.”
“Those discounted prices compared to the regular prices are clearly shown in both sale signs in the video,” the Target spokesperson told The Post.
Commenters on TikTok reacted to Downey’s post with their own experiences.

“I found one where the regular price was lower then black Friday deal,” TikTok user Brandon Saunders chimed in.
Another TikTok user commented: “Far too many of us have worked retail for us to not check these.”
“Black Friday deals used to be SO GOOD,” Kirsten Elizabeth wrote on TikTok.
“Now I don’t even bother. Even online they raise the price, to ‘drop it’.”
A TikTok user who goes by the name “Sharlene” wrote: “This is why I stayed in bed relaxing!”
