Ukraine is preparing its airbase infrastructure to accommodate F-16 fighter jets. Concurrently, pilots and engineers are undergoing training in the West, according to Lieutenant General Oleksandr Pavliuk, the first deputy minister of defense of Ukraine.

The integration of the multi-role F-16 aircraft into the overall system of Ukraine’s Armed Forces is underway both domestically and within the framework of the international Military-Air Coalition. These processes are happening simultaneously.

“We are working on implementing the Fast Track by the end of 2024. Within its framework, an assessment of airfields for multi-role fighters has been conducted. Additionally, our pilots and engineers have been undergoing training on the F-16 since August 2023 through a wide range of programs,” Pavliuk said.

He mentioned that complex and meticulous work is ongoing within Ukraine for the preparation of infrastructure, its protection, including using air defense systems and addressing various other issues.

Pavliuk highlighted that the preparation in Ukraine is taking place under the conditions of continuous use of airbase infrastructure, engineers, and flight personnel for the execution of combat missions.

F-16 for Ukraine

Berlingske, referring to the Ministry of Defense of Denmark on January 7, reported a delay in the delivery of F-16 fighter jets from Denmark to Ukraine. The delay is approximately six months due to the necessity of establishing the required material-technical base and infrastructure in Ukraine.

Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the Ukrainian Air Force, Yurii Ihnat, urged people to refer to official sources, particularly regarding information about the delay in the aircraft delivery. According to him, there are no announcements about this on the website of the Ministry of Defense of Denmark.
