Raheem Morris poaches Saints assistant for Falcons staff
Raheem Morris isn’t done filling out his staff. The new Falcons head coach has poached DJ Williams from the Saints staff to be an assistant quarterbacks coach in Atlanta, even though he was offered a different role to stay in New Orleans.
Following a year where the Falcons didn’t have a quarterbacks coach at all; the club will now have T.J. Yates instructing the unit directly as well as Williams helping out.
Moreover, even though Zac Robinson will be coordinating the entire offense, he is familiar with the position, having played at the highest level as well as coaching the Rams quarterbacks in Los Angeles before coming to Atlanta.
It’s a stark difference in approach from Arthur Smith to Raheem Morris.
The son of Super Bowl champion Doug Williams, DJ has been an offensive assistant with the Saints since 2019. He first started working with the Falcons rival in 2017, helping in training camp before joining football operations in 2018.
Raheem Morris is clearly focused on getting the best coaches around whichever quarterback the Falcons end up acquiring. It’s even better that it came at the expense of the Saints.
