EPL: He can play for top team – Keane tells Man Utd, Man City to sign striker
Former Manchester United captain, Roy Keane, has said Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins could play for a “top team” like Manchester United, Liverpool and Manchester City.
Watkins failed to find the back of the net as they lost 4-0 to Tottenham on Sunday.
But the England international has enjoyed a phenomenal season to help Villa challenge for a place in the top four.
The 28-year-old is the second top goalscorer in the Premier League behind Erling Haaland and tops the assist rankings this term.
“He could play for one of the top teams, couldn’t he?
“Villa are a top team but you’re talking about bigger clubs in Manchester United, Liverpool, Manchester City. That’s a compliment to him, not that he has to leave Villa. But he’s capable of doing it.
“The kid is so sharp, he has a great shape to him. His movement is as good as any striker in the Premier League. He’s having an amazing season” Keane said on Sky Sports.
Watkins has a contract at Villa Park until at least 2028.
