Meanwhile, Australian news agencies reported that a woman died after her vehicle submerged in floodwaters near Mount Isa. According to reports by Australian news media outlets, authorities located the woman inside the vehicle and declared her deceased.

“At approximately 1:15pm, emergency services received reports of a white Toyota Hilux that was located partially submerged in the flooded Malbon River, near Cloncurry Duchess Road. The driver of the vehicle, a 28-year-old Townsville woman, was located inside and was declared deceased. Investigations into the circumstances of the woman’s death are ongoing,” the Queensland Police said in a statement.

Senior Sergeant Adam King told ABC said it appeared the woman had attempted to cross the flooded area. “She was then washed off that causeway and it has sadly resulted in the ultimate price — her life,” King was quoted as saying by ABC.

The Queensland Police have also not revealed the name and age of the person.
