A BMW está a preparar a reforma do BMW Série 8 e Cabrio, mantendo apenas na oferta o Gran Coupé, o qual contará apenas com uma motorização elétrica. A nova geração deverá chegar em 2026.

A transição para o novo paradigma da mobilidade está a ditar o desaparecimento de vários modelos. As mais recentes vítimas parecem ser o BMW 8 Coupé e Cabrio que deverão ser descontinuados a curto prazo.

Na verdade, o Série 8 não conseguiu manter o legado deixado pelo E31 e como consequência a marca de Munique não fez grandes investimentos na atualização deste modelo.

BMW Série 8 Cabrio deverá acabar em 2025

Não faz muito sentido gastar muito dinheiro num produto que não gera vendas suficientes para justificar o investimento. Outro exemplo relevante é o roadster Z4, que recebeu uma atualização muito ligeira.

Enquanto o descapotável deverá desaparecer em 2025, o Série 8 poderá vir a ter uma terceira geração. Segundo o bem informado BMWBLOG, este modelo vai sobreviver, mas de uma forma simplificada. O coupé e o cabriolet estão a caminho da reforma; o único a continuar será o Gran Coupe. Mas mesmo este vai perder as motorizações a gasolina e a gasóleo.

Só elétrico em 2026

Designado internamente como G77, o futuro Série 8 Gran Coupe contará apenas com uma motorização elétrica. A BMW pretende iniciar a produção em 2026 e manter a plataforma CLAR com tração traseira que é utilizada na geração atual com motores de combustão interna.

Apesar de manter o número “8” no seu nome, o novo modelo irá ter um posicionamento entre o i5 do próximo ano e o recém-lançado i7.

Apesar da BMW estar a trabalhar numa plataforma dedicada para veículos elétricos, denominada “Neue Klasse”, fontes da BMW referem ser ainda muito cedo para produzir o Série 8 a partir dessa nova arquitetura. A estreia deverá pertencer a uma berlina e a um SUV do segmento da Série 3 e deverá ocorrer a partir de 2025.

Duas plataformas

Ambas as plataformas deverão coexistir durante alguns anos até a BMW deixar cair a CLAR. Vender o Série 8 apenas com linha motriz elétrica a partir de 2026 será uma decisão ousada por parte da BMW, já que muitas pessoas ainda não estão preparadas para fazer a transição para a mobilidade elétrica devido à falta de capacidade de resposta da infraestrutura de carregamento, pois são necessários mais postos lentos, semirrápidos e rápidos. Os políticos e decisores é que não perceberam…ou não querem perceber.
