vladimir putin humiliated as russia loses nearly 800 troops and dozens of vehicles in one day

The Ukrainian military reported that Russian forces lost 780 soldiers, along with 10 tanks and over 20 armored vehicles in recent clashes

Russia has suffered a big blow in Ukraine, losing nearly 800 soldiers and dozens of vehicles in just one day. This is seen as a new humiliation for Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

This increase in losses adds to the total number of Russian troops lost since the full-scale invasion began in February 2022. According to updated figures from the Armed Forces of Ukraine, this number now stands at 440,750.

The count also includes significant losses in equipment, with Russia reportedly losing a grand total of 6,924 tanks and 13,258 armoured vehicles.

However, it’s important to note that the number of casualties and equipment losses during a war can often be unclear. Experts suggest that the figures reported by both Ukraine and Russia may be higher than the actual numbers, reports the Express.

Neither side regularly updates statistics on their losses. However, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky previously stated that over 31,000 Ukrainian soldiers had died during more than two years of conflict.

The number of casualties tends to rise during long battles, such as Russia’s offensive in the strategic city of Avdiivka in Donetsk, which has been under Moscow’s control since mid-February.

In March, the British government said that Russia’s monthly death count in February was the highest it had been in two years of all-out war, with over 335,000 Russian deaths during this time.

Russia also notably lost more than 1,000 soldiers and 30 tanks in a single day recently, as its forces were called “totally depleted” by the war with Ukraine.

In the conflict, Ukraine has also witnessed significant losses, with Russia’s Defence Ministry reporting that Ukraine lost 15,614 tanks and other armoured fighting vehicles, as well as 8,546 field artillery guns and mortars since February 2022.

Sergei Shoigu, the Russian Defence Minister, recently stated that Ukraine suffered about 71,000 casualties from January 2024, which is similar to the Russian casualty figures given by Ukraine’s military, which put Russian deaths at about 72,000 over the same period.

While care should be taken when interpreting these figures, they clearly indicate the considerable losses on both sides as the conflict intensifies heading into spring and summer. Kyiv warned of a potential new Moscow attack in late May or during the summer, amid reports of soldiers gathered for such an effort.
