Former Liverpool defender Steve Nicol was left unimpressed by Liverpool’s victory over Fulham on Sunday, insisting that the Reds still don’t look like a title-winning team.
Goals from Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ryan Gravenberch and Diogo Jota got Liverpool back to winning ways in the Premier League at Craven Cottage, a result that moves Jurgen Klopp’s side to second in the table for the time being.
While not Liverpool’s greatest display of the season, it was a hugely important victory for a team low on confidence, especially given the changes Klopp made to the starting lineup.

The majority of the club’s supporters may be feeling slightly more positive about Liverpool’s title chances after the weekend, but Steve Nicol certainly wasn’t convinced by the Reds.
STEVE NICOL CONCERNED ABOUT LIVERPOOL’S TITLE CHANCES
Speaking on ESPN after Sunday’s game, Nicol suggested that Liverpool are still some way off the levels of a title-winning side, insisting that it wasn’t a particularly impressive display from the Reds in west London.
Asked if he though the victory could prove a turning point, the former Red replied: “No, no, I didn’t get that feeling. He’s [Klopp] talking about, ‘Well, we did win the game in midweek and we have won again today’, but the performance was OK. It was enough to win the game.
“But it wasn’t the performance of a team you think is shooting towards winning the Premier League title.”
He added: “Man City and Arsenal hadn’t been struggling the way that Liverpool had, in open play in particular, and they [Liverpool] still can’t keep a clean sheet. I think they’ve got one clean sheet in 12 games. You can’t win the Premier League doing that.”
Liverpool’s defensive issues are a concern moving forward but it was important for the Reds to bury a few of their chances against the Cottagers given their recent profligacy.
Hopefully, Sunday’s victory can give the players a confidence boost ahead of Wednesday’s crucial Merseyside derby against Everton.
