Banknotes will soon change to include the signature of the new head of the Reserve Bank of Australia.
Michelle Bullock becomes the first woman to head the RBA on Tuesday when she takes over the reigns from departing governor Philip Lowe, whose seven-year tenure has come to an end.
Changes in the RBA top job mean that banknotes printed from this week will also have an amendment.
New governor Michele Bullock’s signature will replace former governor Philip Lowe’s signature
The bottom corner of every banknote features the signatures of two officials – the Governor of the Reserve Bank of Australia and the Secretary to the Treasury.
Dr Lowe’s signature has featured on every banknote printed in the last seven years.
It will be replaced by Ms Bullock’s signature on freshly printed banknotes in the coming weeks.
The RBA governor’s signature has featured on every Aussie bank note since 1989.
Bullock is just the ninth RBA Governor.
