Bust out those detective hats, we’re investigating the Nissan Titan. It’s a truck that sits a little under the radar, but it’s comfortable and has a standard V8 engine. However, some things don’t add up. For example, the 2023 Nissan Titian is the most expensive full-size truck despite being the oldest.

How much does the 2023 Nissan Titan cost?

2023 Nissan Titan | Nissan USA

The 2023 Nissan Titan price starts at $39,700. This is the Titan’s MSRP, and the price doesn’t include the destination fee or dealership markups. It has a higher starting price than each of its rivals.

For example, the 2023 Toyota Tundra begins at about $36,395, the 2023 Ford F-150 rings in at $34,585, you can get started with the 2023 Ram 1500 for around $37,410, the 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 has an MSRP of $35,600, and the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 kicks off at $34,600.

The Titan could be priced higher because the standard model delivers more power. It has a 5.6-liter V8 engine that cranks out 400 hp and 413 lb-ft of torque. All of its competitors offer at least two different engine options.

Configuring the Titan with four-wheel drive and the CrewCab takes it up to $46,475. Also, the Pro-$x model starts at $46,875, and the top-spec Platinum Reserve trim increases the cost to $60,465. But prices only increase by $960 to $1,170 across the board over the 2022 lineup.

Is the 2023 Titan worth buying?

The 2023 Nissan Titan is worth buying if you want a decent yet robust truck with a comfortable ride, a solid reliability rating, and a long list of standard features. You won’t find a model with a big towing rating, luxury-oriented trim, or impressive off-roading option, though.

Standard Titan features include 18-inch steel wheels, halogen headlights, a 7-inch digital gauge cluster, an 8-inch infotainment screen, wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a bench front seat, cloth upholstery, a damped tailgate, a four-pin connector, a seven-pin connector.

You must opt for the top-spec Platnimum Reserve model to access leather upholstery, a heated steering wheel, heated seats, ventilated seats, running boards, a trailer brake controller, and a power-sliding rear window.

Standard safety features include forward collision warning, blind spot warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, parking sensors, rear cross-traffic alert, and trailer sway control.

According to Edmunds, the Titan can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 8.0 seconds, which isn’t exciting for a truck with a V8 engine. But it has a smooth power delivery. The steering is hefty, and the brakes are weak.

It has a smooth ride over cracks in the pavement, but disruptive wind noise enters the cabin at highway speeds. The seats are comfortable and supportive, though.

When properly equipped, the Titan can tow up to 9,323 lbs, putting it last. It can carry a payload of up to 1.697 lbs.

2023 Nissan Titan | Nissan Motor Corporation

The 2023 Nissan Titan has an above-average reliability rating. The 2022 model earned a score of 85 out of 100 from J.D.Power, which is excellent. With the proper care and maintenance, the Titan can surpass 300,000 miles.

With an average amount of miles, the Titan can provide up to 16 years of service on the road. It costs about $555 to maintain the Nissan Titan annually, which is cheaper than the average maintenance cost of about $650 for all vehicles.

The Titan could be the most expensive truck because of its robust standard engine and long list of standard features. But it doesn’t stand out in one particular area and falls behind rivals in terms of comfort and capability.
