‘WSBK will demand more from me’ – Dominique Aegerter
After dominating the Supersport World Championship and being MotoE champion, Dominique Aegerter advances next year to the Superbike World Championship with the GYTR GRT Yamaha. It is a new professional challenge, at the top of production-derived motorcycles, which will create new demands on the rider.
In an interview with the website SPEEDWEEK.com, the swiss admitted that he has a considerable adaptation to make in a short period of time, but stressed his commitment to prepare properly:
– I’m really looking forward to working with my new team. We will already be testing in Jerez in mid-December, because the first race will take place in Australia at the end of february. The preparation time for me is therefore very short. I have to get used to the bike’s performance, electronics, tyres and brakes very quickly. But I will do my best to be super prepared.
Aegerter also expects greater demand due to the format: ‘The Superbike World Championship will demand more from me. Three races in one weekend will be super tiring for me. But I think I’m too trained. Only after a weekend can I really say what is required of the body physically and mentally’.
