Met Éireann forecasts dry and sunny day ahead of mixed weekend

Met Éireann has forecast a dry and sunny day today ahead of a weekend bringing mixed conditions consisting of sunshine and heavy showers.

Plenty of dry weather today with just some patchy light rain or drizzle, mainly for northern and eastern parts with largely cloudy conditions there.

Some sunny spells elsewhere, the best of which will be in the west and southwest.

Highest temperatures of 12 to 15 degrees in light northwest to west breezes.

Mostly cloudy tonight in the north and for a time in the east with some mist patches just the odd spot of light rain or drizzle in Ulster.

Lowest temperatures there of 7 to 10 degrees. Dry, clearer and cooler in the south and west with lowest temperatures of 4 to 8 degrees.

Light variable winds will become southeasterly later.

Dry at first tomorrow but turning cloudy from the southwest.

Through the morning, some patchy rain and drizzle will follow, turning more persistent in the afternoon, and slowly tracking northeastwards.

Highest temperatures of 12 to 16 degrees, mildest in Ulster with the best of the sunny spells and where it will stay largely dry till the evening. Southeasterly winds will increase moderate, occasionally fresh.

Saturday night will see rain over much of the country early in the night will continue to track northeastwards, clearing from the southwest to showers through the night.

Some of the showers may be heavy. Temperatures not falling below 9 to 12 degrees in light southeasterly winds, veering southwesterly.

On Sunday, the last of the rain will clear the north through the morning and early afternoon, leaving a day with a mix of cloud, sunny spells and scattered showers.

Some of the showers will be heavy or possibly thundery with a chance of spot flooding.

Highest temperatures of 14 to 17 degrees generally, slightly cooler for Atlantic coasts, in mostly moderate southwest to west winds.

Sunday night will see clear spells with scattered showers gradually easing through the night. Lowest temperatures of 7 to 11 degrees in moderate westerly winds.

On Monday, sunny spells and showers expected with the showers becoming lighter and more isolated through the day.

There is a chance of cloudier conditions along with some rain and drizzle moving into the west and southwest in the evening. Highest temperatures of 13 to 16 degrees in moderate westerly winds.

On Tuesday it will be mostly cloudy in the morning with outbreaks of rain moving eastwards over the country with the chance of some heavy falls at times.

Some sunny spells will develop later as the rain clears to showers. Highest temperatures of 15 to 18 degrees generally.

"Continuing unsettled with further spells of rain or showers,” Met Éireann added.
