An extended break from work offers the perfect chance to really get your teeth into a big DIY project or some green-fingered activities.

But adjusted opening hours imposed on big shops mean that many garden centres and DIY stores mill be operating at different times to normal on May 27.

Stores like B&Q, Dobbies Garden Centres and Homebase will all be impacted.

B&Q has offerings for people with both DIY and gardening plans this weekend

B&Q

Shoppers hoping to stop in at B&Q this Monday are in luck as stores across the UK open for usual business hours on the late May bank holiday.

However, opening hours can vary between stores depending on where you are located.

B&Qs open at either 7am or 8am, but will all close at 8pm on May 27.

Screwfix

Unlike B&Q, Screwfix's 887 UK stores will be open for reduced hours on bank holiday Monday - with usual hours being 6am to 8pm.

The stores are mainly set to open an hour later for the bank holiday - still closing at the same time.

Wickes

Wickes stores open at different hours depending on their location, which are set to be disrupted for the bank holiday

Wickes now has over 230 stores across the UK, which are set to be open at different hours to usual for the late May bank holiday.

The stores will be opening an hour later, at 7am, but closing at the usual time of 8pm.

However, they have said local restrictions may apply so to make sure these hours are in place for your local Wickes, use their store locator.

Toolstation

Toolstation has said that their stores will be open over reduced hours on Monday, but all of their 570-plus stores will be open for some of the day.

The usual weekday hours for Toolstation are 7am to 8pm, but for the bank holiday this will be from 8am to 5pm.

Homebase

Homebase usually opens from 8am to 8pm on weekdays but that may vary for the bank holiday, depending on your nearest store.

Dobbies Garden Centres

Dobbies Graden Centres will be open as usual across their 75-plus UK stores for bank holiday Monday

That means they should be open from 9am to 6pm. You can check your local Dobbies' hours using their store locator.

Notcutts has 19 garden centres across England, scheduled to be open as normal from 9am to 5pm.

If you have one near you, double-check before you go on the Notcutts website.

Squire's has 16 garden centres across southeast England which tend to open for bank holidays - from 9am to 6pm.
