The curse of the comeback tour: As Nadine Coyle awkwardly forgets her lyrics at Girls Aloud gig, a look at cringeworthy moments that blighted other reunions - from painful backflips to dodgy dance moves and some VERY unfortunate outfits

For some it's the chance to relive youth, for others treasured time to reconnect with fans, and for many it's mainly about the cash.

Yet whatever reason performers have to stage a comeback it's undeniable there's been a flurry of reunion tours of late.

From the likes of Blur to Sugababes to The Jonas Brothers there's been no shortage of bands cashing in on their former fame and heading back out on the road.

Yet while comeback tours may not seem that daunting - after all, they're singing hits they've performed for years - they don't always go off without a hitch.

From dodgy dance moves to being mocked over their 'ageing' costumes, MailOnline takes a look at the cringe moments that have been caught on camera.

Girls Aloud

Nadine Coyle endured an awkward moment during the Girls Aloud tour as she forgot the lyrics to one of their songs while on stage in Dublin.

The singer, 38, and her fellow bandmates kicked off their highly-anticipated reunion arena tour in the Irish capital on May 17.

But Nadine appeared to suffer a lapse in memory during the show as she forgot the words to Jump while on stage.

Performing with Nicola Roberts, Cheryl and Kimberley Walsh, Nadine appeared to be making up her own lyrics before singing to the audience: 'I'm singing the wrong words.'

The hitmaker saw the humour in the slip-up as she could be seen laughing as she carried on with the performance with Cheryl giving her a playful nudge.

Girls Aloud recorded Jump, a 1984 song originally by The Pointer Sisters, for the soundtrack of 2003 film Love Actually. It reached number two in the charts.

During one of their Belfast shows, Nadine and Cheryl shared a sweet moment when the Geordie singer was unable to sing her line.

Nadine looked panicked as Cheryl tried to signal on stage that she needed to cover her next part.

During the chorus of their iconic hit The Promise, Cheryl gently taps Nadine on the elbow who then pulls a face and nods that she will sing the line.

She then belts out: 'If you wanna forgive me start again, if you wanna be with me in my arms...'

Fans speculated that Cheryl was perhaps not feeling well although it seems more likely that there was something not quite right with her microphone.

After recovering from the moment, Nadine joined Cheryl, Kimberley and Nicola by throwing her arms up in the air ahead of the final chorus.

Aston Merrygold suffered a huge blunder while performing on stage during a JLS concert last year.

The singer shocked fans when his attempt to backflip went terribly wrong, which led him to land flat on his back.

A clip has circulated around social media which shows the star slip on a step on stage, causing him to fail his backflip - which he normally lands correctly every time.

But despite the awful encounter, the JLS star managed to quickly get back up on his feet and continue performing with the group.

Oritsé Williams, 36, Marvin Humes, 38, and JB Gill, 36, continued the performance without even noticing what happened to Aston on stage.

Fans gushed to the comments, with some praising Aston for getting straight back up on his feet and getting on with the show.

S Club brought their Nineties energy to life once again during their The Good Times reunion tour but came under fire from cruel trolls mocking their dance performance.

The band - consisting of Rachel Stevens, 46, Tina Barrett, 47, Jon Lee, 41, Bradley McIntosh, 42 and Jo O'Meara, 44, kicked off the eagerly-anticipated tour in October.

They have been performing without Hannah Spearritt, 43 - who quit the group last year following the death of their beloved bandmate Paul Cattermole.

The pop group replicated of their old dance routines to bring some nostalgia. Yet, not everyone has been impressed with cruel trolls took to Instagram criticising their 'outdated' performances.

A fan in attendance shared a clip from the live gig showing the band dressed in different colour suits - leading some nasty trolls to compare them to Power Rangers costumes.

Trolls penned: 'Looks like most of them stopped movin to the funky beat'; 'It's like going to an over 55's exercise class'; 'Hahaha. They look knackered....';

'Is this a joke?,' asked one, while another said: 'They old and tired,' accompanied with a laughing emoji. 'Power Rangers Tour?,' asked one joking as another commented: 'Looks like the teletubbies.'

S Club 7 was formed in 1998 and the band had a string of huge hits between 1999 and 2003.

While their sell-out tour delighted their hardcore fans, N-Dubz's comeback gigs last year were married by tales of in-crowd fights and a cancellation due to Dappy losing his voice.

N-Dubz is made up of Dappy, real name Costadinos Contostavlos, 35, - his cousin Tulisa Contostavlos, 34, and Fazer, real name Richard Rawson, 35.

Their most famous hits include No Regrets, Say It's Over, Number One and Playing With Fire.

The group were forced to apologise after the band cancelled their planned concert in Nottingham with just five minutes notice.

However, fans continued to rage about losing out on money for travel, hotels and childcare and demanded reimbursement.

Dappy, Tulia and Fazer took to their social media at the time to say sorry to their fans, writing that they had only just received doctor's advice that Dappy could not perform before they were supposed to go out on stage.

Shania Twain slipped and fell during her sold-out concert at Credit Union 1 Amphitheater in Illionois last year as she returned to the stage after taking a brief time away from the spotlight.

The Canadian singer was rocking a sparkly silver pair of thigh-high boots while performing her 1997 song Don't Be Stupid (You Know I Love You) when it happened.

Shania (born Eilleen Edwards) was strutting across the stage during her third song in the setlist when her right foot slid and she wound up on her bottom.

But Shania didn't miss a lyric and kept singing the song as she got back up and gingerly tested the friction of the slippery spot where she fell.

Eyewitnesses told TMZ on Sunday that 'the packed crowd did not react when Shania took her spill' because she continued on with the show without issue.

The 'Queen of Country Pop' has never met a thigh-high boot she didn't love, and even purchased a pair of boots a full size too big for her just because she 'loved them so much.'

Nineties pop group Eternal were forced to cancel their car park comeback gig this year due to poor ticket sales.

On Monday, sisters Vernie and Easther Bennett unveiled their new bandmate Christel Lakhdar after they were ditched by former members Louise Redknapp and Kelle Bryan.

In September last year, Louise Redknapp and Kelle Bryan pulled out of an Eternal reunion tour because Vernie and Easther had refused to play any of the LBGTQ+ gigs they had scheduled over claims the community is being 'hijacked' by the trans movement.

However, sisters Vernie and Easther Bennett were planning to push on with the band's reunion with the help of new singer Christel Lakhdar - with a reunion gig in a car park.

But it seems fans deserted the band as they struggled to sell tickets which were on sale for upwards of £50.
