27.12 % polling in 4th phase in UP till 11AM
Voting continued peacefully in 13 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh in the 4th phase on Monday and around 27.12 per cent of the electorate had exercised their franchise till 11am.
Amid rains in Lakhimpur Kheri and early malfunctioning of some EVMs, the polling process was peaceful. In some booths, polling started late due to technical glitch in EVMs.
ECI sources here said that till 0900 am, the voting percentage was 11.67 which rose to 27.12 in the next 2 hours.
Minor scuffle at booths were reported in Kannauj, Kheri and Etawah constituencies.
The Samajwadi Party has complained to the ECI that there was misuse of government machinery and voters were prevented from casting their votes in Kannauj.
SP President Akhilesh Yadav tweeted on Monday morning. He wrote,”Gather strength to save the Constitution, come and vote at any cost.”
“Just as our freedom fighters fought without caring for their lives during the freedom movement, today again the time has come when something needs to be done for freedom and the Constitution.
“Come out of your house like a ‘Samvidhan Senani’ and show the power of your vote by voting for your future. Whatever obstacles come in the way, overcome them with the power of unity and come for voting,” Yadav said.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in his tweet said,”Today is the fourth phase of Lok Sabha elections-2024.
I appeal to all respected voters to vote for ‘heritage and development’, for the ‘security and respect’ of the country, and for the idea of ‘self-reliant and developed India’.Your every vote will be decisive. Remember – first voting, then refreshments!”
BSP supremo Mayawati in her tweet said, “Today, in the fourth phase of voting for the Lok Sabha in the country. Make sure to use your valuable right to vote, that is, to continue the resolution of ‘voting first and then having refreshments’, only then public welfare and good governance is possible in the country.
“Your vote can lead to the path of freedom from huge inflation, poverty, unemployment, backwardness …..and the closed doors of your progress can be opened through the master key of power, as said by the most revered Baba Saheb Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar,” she said.
ECI sources here said till 11am, the voting was 25.60 per cent in Akbarpur, 28.63 per cent in Bahraich, 29.79 per cent in Dhaurahara, 24.68 per cent in Etawah, 27.88 per cent in Farrukhabad, 27.12 per cent in Hardoi, 29.9 per cent in Kannauj, 21.36 per cent in Kanpur, 29.20 per cent in Kheri, 27.03 per cent in Mishrik, 25.05 per cent in Shahjahanpur, 29.29 per cent in Sitapur and 27.09 per cent in Unnao Lok Sabha seat.
