UN slashes estimate of women and children killed in Gaza by 50 PERCENT

OCHA decreased the number of women, children killed without announcement The UN uses figures collected from the 'Gaza Ministry of Health,' run by HamasThis comes as reports of 12 UN staff directly involved in the Oct. 7 terror attacks

The United Nations has dramatically slashed the estimated number of women and children killed in Gaza by 50 percent.

Without announcement, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) altered their data on May 8 - reducing almost half the number of women and children previously reported killed in the Gaza conflict.

The data which they base their reports on is collected from 'Gaza's Ministry of Health,' run by Hamas, the terror group that started the war on October 7.

On May 6, the UN indicated that 34,735 people, including over 9,500 women and over 14,500 children, had reportedly been killed in Gaza since the war began on October 7.

But just two days later on May 8, the numbers dramatically decreased with updated data showing that 34,844 people had reportedly been killed, including 4,959 women and 7,797 children.

Farhan Aziz Haq, a spokesman for UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, blamed the discrepancies in the figures on reliance on data from the Ministry of Health in Gaza, which undergoes its verification process.

He said those numbers 'can vary based on their own verification process that they undertake.'

'The United Nations teams on the ground in Gaza are unable to independently verify those figures given the prevailing situation on the ground and the sheer volume of fatalities,' he added, addressing Fox News Digital. 'It is for this reason that all figures used by the UN clearly cite the Health Ministry in Gaza as the source.'

This comes after reports that multiple UN employees were directly involved in the October 7 terror attack that killed over 1,400 people and took 252 people hostage, including twelve American citizens.

Additionally, around 10 percent of all of the UN's Gaza staff have direct ties to Islamist militant groups, according to intelligence reports reviewed by The Wall Street Journal.

In January, the UN's agency for Palestinian refugees launched a probe into 12 UN employees suspected of being involved in the Hamas October 7 terror attacks.

Announcing it had opened the investigation, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) said that is had also severed ties with the suspected staff members.

While Philippe Lazzarini, UNRWA Commissioner-General, did not specify how many employees were implicated in the scandal, the US State Department said that 12 employees were involved.

The Israeli authorities have provided UNRWA with information about the alleged involvement of several UNRWA employees in the horrific attacks on Israel on October 7,' said Lazzarini.

'To protect the agency's ability to deliver humanitarian assistance, I have taken the decision to immediately terminate the contracts of these staff members and launch an investigation in order to establish the truth without delay,' he added.
