Former Seattle Kraken defenseman Carson Soucy is the latest to learn that you mess with an NHL superstar at your own risk - in this case, the risk of supplemental discipline.
Soucy, who signed a free agent contract with the Vancouver Canucks last off-season, took part in a post-game scrum Sunday after the Canucks had defeated the Edmonton Oilers 4-3 in Game 3 of their playoff series.
From Jonathan Tovell at The Hockey News: "After Edmonton tried unsuccessfully to force overtime late in Sunday's Game 3, Soucy gave McDavid an initial push behind the Canucks net. McDavid responded by slashing the defenseman, catching Vancouver's Nikita Zadorov attention.
Zadorov cross-checked McDavid from behind while Soucy wound up for a cross-check, appearing to catch McDavid in the face."
NHL.com reports Soucy will have a meeting with the NHL Department of Player Safety Monday.
