Prince William proves he wants to be 'modern' with stark contrast to childhood with King Charles

As heir to the throne, it's no surprise that Prince William was brought up within the confines of traditional Royal protocols.

But one body language expert claims the future King is making an effort to ensure the opposite is the case for his own children. William and his brother Harry did not have the easiest of childhoods, being first hand witnesses to their parents' volatile marriage and subsequent divorce. But the heir has gone on to find great happiness in his own union with Princess Kate, with whom he shares three children.

The pair are known for making small deviations from the traditional Royal upbringing when it comes to their own kids. Kate has previously been described as a hands-on mum who does the school run, attends her children's school events and gets stuck in with activities. Meanwhile royal expert Robert Hardman claimed the couple are keen to ensure their three children have as normal an upbringing as possible.

He said of William: “We know they are a very tight family unit, and he wants to be there for them. So much of what they do with those kids is about normalising life and not making them feel like they are in a special gilded cage.”

This weekend, William shared a snap of the three kids wrapped around him while gazing out to sea on a Norfolk beach to mark Father's Day in the UK. Kate, Princess of Wales, took the photo herself, and a sweet caption read: "We love you, Papa. Happy Father’s Day. G, C & L."

According to body language expert Judi James, the future King has taken experiences from his past to create a more “modern” family unit. She explained: “William continually shows how he uses lessons from his past to forge the kind of family unit he sees as more modern and more ideal. His understanding of duty and loyalty seems strong but he is clearly also determined to create a more casual and playful life for his own children than he or his father were allowed to enjoy”, she adds.

The expert went on to share the probable meaning of the faceless image. She explained: “Photographed from the back view, they avoid actually communicating with the camera. It suggests this is an intimate and loving moment caught rather than a ‘show pony’ one posed to please the viewer.”

William's Father's day post comes after he shared his own moving message in tribute to the King as he revealed his affectionate nickname for the monarch. In a social media post, the Prince of Wales said “Happy Father’s Day, Pa. W” and attached a photo of a young William next to the future king, who had a small football at his feet.

This weekend, the Princess of Wales made an emotional return to the public with her children as she greeted crowds at the Trooping the Colour ceremony on Saturday. Kate, 42, beamed as she waved to the huge crowds with Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. The family enjoyed a carriage ride from Buckingham Palace to Horse Guards Parade to watch the military spectacle before Kate emerged on the Buckingham Palace balcony next to Prince William as the pair chatted enthusiastically.
