Diana Taurasi Getting Roasted Online Over Caitlin Clark's WNBA All-Star Voting

The 2024 WNBA All-Star voting results are out, and Caitlin Clark has the second-highest number of votes behind two-time league MVP A'Ja Wilson. The Fever guard garnered 216,427 votes, which is not far from Wilson's 217,773. This result had basketball fans roasting Diana Taurasi on social media.

Five Indiana Fever players made the Top 30 in fan voting, and Taurasi didn't cut. Following Taurasi's "Reality is coming" comment to Clark, fans took advantage of the situation, throwing major shade at the three-time WNBA champion.

As the All-Star voting results continue to fuel discussions, a clear narrative is emerging among WNBA fans. Many are suggesting that Taurasi, who is seen as being in the final leg of her career, should pass the torch to the promising rookie, Caitlin Clark.

The first overall pick in the 2024 WNBA draft, Clark has been making a strong case for herself with impressive numbers this season, including 16.3 points, 6.2 assists, and 5.5 rebounds. This debate is not just about the All-Star game, but also about the future of the league.

In her 20th season, the Phoenix Mercury legend has notched 16.9 points, 2.1 assists, and 5.0 rebounds.

Clark came into the league, bringing with her a huge fanbase. Even as a rookie, she is widely viewed as the country's most popular women's basketball player.

Some WNBA fans believe that the results of Clark being the second-most leading vote-getter is a sign that the next generation of players has taken over the league.

Taurasi has taken pride in the fact that this year's WNBA All-Star Game will be held in her mother team's territory in Phoenix, Arizona. Fans have a say in the final selections of who will participate in this year's activities, but even the hometown fanbase isn't enough to elevate the 2009 WNBA MVP above the popularity of the 22-year-old rookie.
