ADNOC Launches First High-Speed Hydrogen Refueling Station

The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) has officially launched the “H2GO” high-speed green hydrogen pilot refueling station, marking a significant milestone in sustainable transportation initiatives, according to a statement issued by ADNOC.[1]

Situated at Masdar City and operated by ADNOC Distribution, the station is designed to support the testing of a fleet of hydrogen-powered vehicles that emit zero emissions.

Using an electrolyzer powered by clean grid electricity, the station will generate green hydrogen from water, contributing to ADNOC’s commitment to environmentally friendly practices.

The primary goal of this pilot initiative is to collect essential data that will enhance the understanding of the long-term feasibility of hydrogen-powered vehicles in the UAE.

Certified as “green” by the International REC Standard, the hydrogen produced at the H2GO pilot station originates from solar sources.

Toyota, Al Futtaim Motors, and BMW have collaborated to provide a fleet of hydrogen vehicles for the pilot, which will undergo testing by taxi companies, including Tawasul.

In a significant financial commitment, ADNOC has allocated an initial investment of $15 billion to drive the development of lower-carbon solutions and decarbonization technologies.
