While various T20 cricket leagues have emerged across the world, giving not just players a chance to earn big money but also becoming a subject of spreading the game, it remains a matter of fact that the India Premier League (IPL) is the crème de la crème and the best cricket competition in the world as far as franchise cricket is concerned.

The cash-rich league hosted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in April–May every year sees the world’s best cricketers come to India and put on a show that is savored by cricket fans in the country and played in front of jam-packed stadiums across the country.

However, Pakistani players are not allowed to play in the league due to political tensions between India and Pakistan. The Men in Green players had played in the league in the inaugural season in 2008, but they have not been allowed to participate, with relations between the countries turning bitter following the horror 26/11 terror attacks in Mumbai.

Pakistan pacer Hasan Ali expressed his wish to play in the league and pointed to the glamour and money on offer.

“IPL is a very big league. There is a lot of glamour and money. Every player wants to play. There is no player that does not want to play the IPL but we cannot. It is my wish to play the IPL,” said Hasan Ali on SAMAA TV.

Hasan was part of Pakistan’s 2023 World Cup squad. He has played a total of 22 Test matches, 66 ODIs, and 50 T20Is for the 1992 World Champions. Hasan won the player of the tournament in the 2017 Champions Trophy, won by Pakistan.
