Conor McGregor’s The Black Forge posts more than $2 million in losses since 2021 opening

Conor McGregor made around a $2 million investment when he purchased the Dublin bar he named The Black Forge Inn. But the pub is still experiencing growing pains based on recent latest financial disclosures, per a new report.

According to records filed by Jemi Ventures, the company that oversees the pub owned by McGregor, the restaurant and bar recorded losses of 432,000 Euros last year, which translates to just over $600,000 U.S. dollars.

In 2021, The Black Forge Inn posted losses totaling 1.13 million Euros— or approximately $1.8 million — after the pub struggled during its opening year due to the global pandemic.

All told, McGregor’s pub has accounted for over $2 million in losses since the business venture started, per financial figures reported by The Independent in Ireland.

While losses have accumulated, Jemi Ventures valued Black Forge Inn and all of its assets at a net book value of €4.4m ($6.1 million) at the end of 2022. The amount owed on a loan provided to the business also dropped from €5.3m to €4.1m at the end of last year, per the report.

As The Black Forge Inn continues to post losses, McGregor continues to expand his portfolio around the business, which includes purchasing the Porterhouse Brewery in Dublin, which now manufactures his Forged Irish Stout beer.

McGregor started the beer brand after previously launching Proper No. 12 whiskey, a hugely popular liquor that eventually sold to Proximo Spirits for a reported $600 million price tag. Following a split with his partners, McGregor reportedly took home between $130 and $150 million from the sale, which helped him top the Forbes’ list for the highest paid athletes in the world in 2021.

The former two-division UFC champion has also continued to expand his real estate portfolio, which includes a new apartment building that will feature 200 units on property he owns. In other words, the $2 million plus in losses for his pub won’t break the bank on McGregor as he continues building his business empire.

As for his fight career, McGregor is currently targeting a return to action in early 2024 against Michael Chandler that will also undoubtedly add several more zeroes to his bank account.
