Road on Nottinghamshire border closed due to flooding as buses divert

A road has been closed as travel disruption is in place due to flooding. The B5010 Derby Road in Risley, Derbyshire, is currently closed due to flooding, affecting bus services between Nottingham and Derby.

Bus operator Trent Barton has confirmed on X (previously Twitter) this afternoon, Friday, February 9, that its i4 service will operate on a diverted route as a result. The whole village of Risley cannot be served by the bus service.

The diverted route sees buses going from Bostocks Lane via the A52 to Cole Lane, Borrowash. A statement from Trent Barton reads: “The road has been closed today (Friday, February 9) through Risley due to flooding, so our i4 will having [sic] to divert from Bostocks Lane via the A52 to Cole Lane, Borrowash, missing the whole of Risley.”

The service also passes through Stapleford and Sandiacre, with Nottingham stops located at the QMC, the University of Nottingham, and wollaton -park>Wollaton Park. There are currently four flood warnings affecting Nottinghamshire, meaning flooding is expected and residents should ‘act now’.

These are:

River Erewash and Boundary Brook at Trowell and Stapleford Moorbridge Lane;

River Erewash at Ilkeston;

River Maun at Haughton, Milton and West Drayton;

River Soar at Zouch Island.

Flood alerts are also in place at 19 locations affecting Nottinghamshire, meaning flooding is possible and residents should ‘be prepared’. These are:
