The violation of airspace by Russian missiles is a provocation by the Russian Federation, which risks sparking an even wider war, Polish President Andrzej Duda says in an interview with WSJ.

According to the president, the violation of airspace threatens Poland’s infrastructure and civilians.

The WSJ reports that the last incident occurred on March 24, when during the massive shelling of Ukraine by the Russian Federation, one of the cruise missiles aimed at the western regions entered Polish airspace for 39 seconds.

Airspace violations during shelling

It should be added that on March 24, the enemy used 29 missiles against Ukraine, launched from 14 Tu-95MS aircraft and 29 drones. One of the missiles, namely the Kh-101, violated Polish airspace over the Lublin Voivodeship. Allied air forces did not shoot it down, as they were confident that it would return to Ukraine.

In response to the incident, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs called Russian Ambassador Sergey Andreev on the carpet, but he ignored it and left the country.

Later, Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski discussed the incident with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.
