Hulu has one of the best student deals on the market, with the discount taking off about 75% of the regular monthly cost of an ad-supported Hulu account. Here’s everything you need to know about the Hulu Student Deal, from how much it costs to how you qualify.

Hulu’s password-sharing crackdown is officially here, so if you’re living in a dorm right now and trying to connect to your parents’ account on a TV, you might find that you need to get your own account. Fortunately, the monthly student rate will only cost you a little more than a pack of ramen.

How much does the Hulu Student Deal cost?

The Hulu Student Deal costs $1.99 per month and lasts as long as you remain a verified college student. After that, you’ll be charged the standard rate of $7.99 per month.

Benefits of Hulu Student Deal

The Hulu Student Deal comes with all of the benefits of a regular ad-supported Hulu plan. This includes access to Hulu’s catalog of original shows, as well as other popular TV series and movies. This means that you can catch on-demand episodes of “Abbott Elementary,” “The Handmaid’s Tale,” “The Bear,” and “Bob’s Burgers” all for just under $2 per month.

How to sign up for the Hulu Student Deal

Signing up is easy. All you have to do is click “Get This Deal” on the Hulu Student Deal webpage. If you don’t already have an account, it will prompt you to create one. From there, you’ll go through verification and fill out your payment info.

How can Hulu tell if I’m a student?

You’re eligible for this promo as long as you remain enrolled at a U.S. Title IV accredited college or university. Verifications are performed through the third-party credential checker SheerID (so simply having an old .edu email address probably won’t cut it). Automatic re-verification happens annually to ensure that you’re still a student.

I’m a student, and I already have a full-priced Hulu account

If you’re a college student who already pays the regular monthly rate for an ad-supported Hulu account, don’t worry. According to the terms and conditions, this offer is valid for new and existing Hulu-billed subscribers. All you need to do is log in and go to the Hulu Student Deal page, where you’ll click “Get This Deal.” After verification, it will apply the student discount pricing.

If you don’t mind spending a little more money, you can pay $5.99 per month for Spotify Premium Student, which comes with a Spotify Premium subscription and an ad-supported Hulu plan. Spotify Premium normally goes for $10.99 per month. Combined with Hulu Basic’s $7.99 monthly fee, this would typically run you $18.98. At $5.99 per month, this gets you an almost 70% discount on the duo. Verification for this plan is also performed through SheerID and lasts up to four years.
