O.J. Simpson, 76, appears extremely frail while using a cane to help himself get around Las Vegas, 28 years since he was acquitted in the Trial of the Century

O.J. Simpson was spotted looking extremely frail while strolling through the streets of Las Vegas with a cane, 28 years after being acquitted of murder in the Trial of the Century.

The 76-year-old former NFL running back appeared to be gloomy while wearing dark slippers around a strip mall, with his walking stick in one hand, and his phone in the other, on Sunday.

He also wore black and white sweatpants and a jacket with a cream polo under it to complete his look.

In October, Simpson hardly looked recognizable while donning a polo of his college team – the University of Southern California (USC) – and carrying groceries around in Sin City.

Two months earlier, in August, Simpson raised eyebrows after he publicly criticized the criminal sentencing of former Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Henry Ruggs. He even compared it to his own prison stretch for armed robbery in 2008.

The 1973 NFL MVP said he was baffled when Ruggs, 24, received a three-to-ten year sentence, despite causing the death of a 23-year-old woman after driving drunk at over 155mph down a Las Vegas strip in November 2021.

‘The math just does not add up,’ said Simpson, who was locked up for nine years after trying to steal sports memorabilia, which he claims was his own, from a Las Vegas hotel room with a gun in September 2007.

‘I know I went to college on a football scholarship but somehow this math is not adding up to me,’ he further said.

Simpson was not alone in believing Ruggs may have got off lightly for his role in the November 2021 crash that killed 23-year-old Tina Tintor and her dog.

At one time, the former Las Vegas Raiders star could have faced 50 years behind bars, but reached a plea deal in May to plead guilty to one felony count of DUI.

Hours after the sentence was read in the same courthouse he was convicted in 14 years ago, Simpson shared his thoughts on the court proceedings with his 900,000 followers on X, formerly known as Twitter.

‘You’re driving a car at roughly 160 miles per hour on a public street and end up killing a girl and her dog and you get three to ten years?’ Simpson said, noting Ruggs’ crime.

In comparison to his own arrest, he said: ‘You go to a hotel room, that you’re invited to, to retrieve your own personal stolen property – property I now have because it was ruled to be mine by the state of California – and you get nine to 33 years?’

‘Same courthouse, same city, same state. I don’t know. Somehow just does not add up to me… I’m just saying,’ he finished.

Once a popular figure with the American public, Simpson’s professional success was overshadowed by his trial and controversial acquittal for the murders of his former wife Nicole Brown and her friend Ron Goldman.
