met office announces full list of areas in england set for snow tomorrow

In a brief preview of Tuesday January 9, the Met Office says there is a risk of wintry showers in the South West in the morning.

The Met Office has announced which areas of England will be hit by snow tomorrow (Tuesday). In a brief preview of Tuesday January 9, the Met Office says there is a risk of wintry showers in the South West in the morning.

The odd wintry shower for the North East of England is also expected, the Met Office says. And by Wednesday, the experts say we should expect some light rain for some areas in the North, with the potential to turn wintry over the high ground as January 10.

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for ice for southern England and southern Wales. It lasts until 3am on Tuesday, January 9. BBC Weather forecaster Stav Danaos said north-east England will see light rain, light sleet and snow over hills, while south-east England will experience wintry showers and “a light dusting of snow”, even in lower areas.

The Met Office said “a mix of sleet and snow showers” will move in from the east, with temperatures reaching “near zero”. “Given these wintry showers, and also wet surfaces after recent wet weather, some icy patches are likely on untreated surfaces,” the forecaster added.

And the Met Office warns that ice and small amounts of snow “could lead to slippery surfaces in new places” and potentially slower journeys. In its outlook on the UK weather forecast landing page on its website, the Met Office says: “An isolated snow flurry is possible this evening but thereafter a dry night with clear periods.

“Rather breezy and feeling very cold with a widespread frost developing. Some ice developing in places, especially where any snow flurries occur.” Looking ahead to Tuesday, forecasters said: “A fine albeit cold day with largely sunny skies and mostly small amounts of cloud. The brisk easterly breeze will make it feel like it’s below freezing.”

The outlook for Wednesday to Friday says: “The largely dry and settled weather will continue with plenty of sunshine on Wednesday. Cloudier skies on Thursday and Friday. Cold with overnight frosts, especially at first. Breezy at times.”
