Odisha: Puri’s Jagannath Temple to Stay Open All Night for Public Darshan on Kartika Purnima Eve
The Jagannath temple in Odisha’s Puri will stay open all night for public darshan on Sunday so that devotees can offer prayers to the Lord Jagannath and his sibling deities on the eve of Kartika Purnima, which is on Monday. The temple administration took a decision in this regard after meeting with the servitors and keeping in view the massive gathering of visitors.
On Kartika Purnima, the deities will adorn rajarajeswari besha, or golden attire while Jagannath has already been adorned with Laxmi nrusingha besha on Panchuka Chaturdashi Tithi. There are elaborate security arrangements and traffic management in place for visitors thronging the temple.
At least 10 platoons of police personnel are being deployed for crowd control. Besides, more lifeguards will also be stationed on the beach to prevent any untoward incident. Special patrolling has also been arranged at the beachside.
The temple authorities are expecting a footfall of close to 3 lakh visitors on Kartika Purnima. Special arrangements have been made for roads leading to Puri from Bhubaneswar, Konark and Brahmagiri.
Puri SP KB Singh said: “We have taken all the steps to ensure smooth darshan, 10 platoons of police force are being deployed for crowd management. Additional forces are also deployed for traffic management. More lifeguards will be deployed on the beach to prevent any untoward incident.”
