Zimbabwe allrounder Sikandar Raza created history on Monday by becoming the first male cricketer from his country to pick a hat trick in T20Is. He achieved the feat in Zimbabwe’s game against Rwanda in the T20 World Cup Africa Region Qualifiers in Windhoek. He finished with figures of 2.4-0-3-3 after he got the wickets of Muhammad Nadir, Zappy Bimenyimana, and Emile Rukiriza.
Raza has 48 wickets in 64 T20Is, besides 1562 runs in 71 T20I innings at a strike rate of 130.93. Besides the hat trick, he also scored a 36-ball 58 in the game against Rwanda.
Half-centuries from Raza and Tadiwanashe Marumani took Zimbabwe to 215/4, and a three-wicket haul from Richard Ngarava besides the hattrick from Raza bowled Rwanda out for just 71. He put forward his A-game a day after the Punjab Kings retained him for IPL 2024.
