The best places to eat in London according to the Good Food Awards, and it might surprise you. When you think of the most famous restaurants in the capital a huge proportion of these are situated in Soho, Mayfair, Covent Garden or other central areas.
However, it seems the 2023/24 has put a particular emphasis on venues further out from Central London as all four corners of the city are covered.
The Good Food Awards celebrates the range of incredible restaurants, cafes and takeaways on offer across the UK. Since the began in 2002, the GFA particularly looks to highlight independent establishments.
Here’s a list of the London restaurants celebrated in this year’s awards:
- Colombo Kitchen, Worcester Park
- The Great Chase, Islington
- Hello Burger, Sidcup
- Loro di Napoli, Ealing
- Super Sushi, Chingford
- The Taste of Nawab, Muswell Hill
- Turkuaz, Catford
- Vijay’s Virasat Restaurant, Ilford
Cafe’s are also a big part of the Good Food Awards. In total 11 London cafes triumphed:
- Cafégenic, Hendon
- Chinchins, Bexleyheath
- Deeney’s Café, Leyton
- Drury 188-189, Holborn
- Dulce Coffee, Whitechapel
- La Café, Sutton
- The Ludoquist, Croydon
- The Monocle Café, Marylebone
- Original Bagel, Golden Lane Estate
- Oru Space Café, East Dulwich
- River Gardens Café, Greenwich

The Angel and Crown in Richmond was the only London gastropub to win, while fat pizza in Hornchurch was also the sole London winner in the takeaway category.
Fish and chips is also a key part of the Good Food Awards, with 10 London establishments achieving wins:

- Brockley’s Rock, Brockley
- Eltham Grill House, Eltham
- Goodmayes Fish and Chips, Ilford
- Ickenham Fish Bar, Ickenham
- The Mayfair Chippy, Mayfair
- North Sea Fish Restaurant, Euston
- The Original Georges Fish Bar, Enfield
- Stones Fish and Chips, North Acton
- The Village Fish and Chips, Petts Wood
