UAE innovation hub for showcasing youth creativity: Mubarak Al Shamsi

ABU DHABI, 27th November, 2023 (WAM) — Dr. Mubarak Saeed Al Shamsi, Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ACTVET) and Founder and President of the WorldSkills Asia Association said that the UAE attaches great importance to the WorldSkills Asia competition, which showcases the best talents from various fields around the world in a three-day event of fierce rivalry.

The event is crucial for shaping a generation that can devise solutions and develop innovations to boost the country’s future economy, he added.

In his statement to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), Dr. Al Shamsi said that the competition showcases the achievements of the UAE in fostering cultural and innovative diversity.

The UAE, home to more than 200 nationalities from across the globe, is also a leading financial hub, a centre of innovation, a major energy producer, and a world-class tourism destination, he further added.

The competition encompasses seven primary skill areas: construction and building technologies, information and communication technologies, manufacturing technologies, engineering, transportation, logistics, and junior category skills. Competitions within these seven sectors span 28 technical and professional skills.

Dr. Al Shamsi stated that technical and vocational education is part of the country’s vision for the future, commending the support of the UAE’s leadership for the centre and its role in preparing an exemplary cadre of young people for the future.

ACTVET’s goal is to train generations of innovators, and hosting the global event in the country helps to achieve this aim, as it is a great opportunity for officials, experts, and the youth to share their views on the future of education and envision the careers of tomorrow, he said in conclusion.
