Unai Emery has poured cold water on Arsenal’s interest in Douglas Luiz by insisting the midfielder is happy at Villa Park.

The Gunners failed with three bids for the Brazilian last January, the last of which was worth around £25m.

Luiz’s contract had around seven months to run at the time, hence the level of Arsenal’s offers.

But the midfielder has since signed a new deal in Birmingham and his performances have improved significantly under Emery.

Luiz was again vital as Villa beat Tottenham in north London on Sunday, as he provided an assist for Pau Torres’ equaliser.

And Emery insists the midfielder won’t be going anywhere in January.

‘Douglas is playing very good,’ said Emery.

‘His commitment [is] amazing. I want to keep him and he is happy with us.‘

Arsenal will listen to offers for Thomas Partey in January, provided they can find a replacement.

The Ghana international has attracted interest from Saudi Arabia.
