coventry city boss makes leicester city 'loan' claim ahead of m69 derby

Coventry City manager Mark Robins

Championship leaders Leicester City are “on loan from the Premier League”, says Coventry City boss Mark Robins.

The two teams meet in the M69 derby at the CBS Arena on Saturday lunchtime, with both teams on impressive unbeaten runs in the league. Speaking ahead of the match, Robins said Leicester’s squad is so good, they are effectively “on loan” from the top flight for a season.

“They are a top team,” Robins said. “Somebody said to me the other day that they are on loan from the Premier League, and they are probably right.

“They have quality players, and they are finding results week in week out and they play in a good style with speed, nous and they’re clever with experience and they score goals.

“They’ve only conceded 18 goals in the league so far, so we know how difficult his game is going to be there’s no two ways about it.

“They have a team and a squad full of quality players and their results have shown that and performances have shown that and the wealth of talent they have is strong.”

On how his team will approach the match, he added: “We will need a top performance tomorrow and we will need to score more than once maybe, because it will be no easy feat, but it’s a game we’re really looking forward to.

“We want to go and play in our way and the way we can do and impose ourselves when and where we can, but we’re under no illusions they’re a really good side.”
