PM Modi contributes Rs 2,000 to BJP fund, seeks donations for party
NEW DELHI: Ahead of Lok Sabha polls, PM Narendra Modi on Sunday contributed Rs 2,000 to the BJP fund and urged people to “donate to the party for nation building”.
“I am happy to contribute to BJP and strengthen our efforts to build a Viksit Bharat. I also urge everyone to be a part of #DonationForNationBuilding through the NaMo app,” the PM posted on X. He also shared a screenshot of the receipt of his contribution.
The call to donate money comes after the SC last month unanimously struck down the electoral bonds scheme as unconstitutional. While opposition parties hailed the court’s decision, BJP said the scheme was brought in for transparency in electoral funding.
Senior BJP leaders, including home minister Amit Shah and party president J P Nadda, also contributed to the party fund and shared screenshots of the receipts.
