9 flights to Delhi diverted as rain lashes capital city

Nine flights that were heading to Delhi on Monday between 6 pm to 7 pm were diverted as rain lashed the national capital on Monday. Out of the nine flights, six were from Jaipur, two from Lucknow and one from Ahemdabad.

In addition to this, a Vistara flight from Guwahati to Delhi was also diverted to Jaipur due to bad weather and air traffic congestion at Delhi airport, according to the airline’s social media handle.

The Delhi and National Capital Region on Monday evening received light rainfall, bringing down the temperature levels by a few notches.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a further drop in temperatures by two to three degrees in northern India, signalling an intensification of winters in the days to come.

The weather department has also predicted an increase in fog in Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Punjab starting from November 28.

IMD Senior Scientist RK Jenamani said that the weather in Delhi is currently cloudy and this will continue for the next 12-18 hours.

“The weather in the national capital Delhi is currently cloudy and will persist for the next 12-18 hours. The temperature is anticipated to decrease by 2 to 3 degrees at night, and fog is expected to intensify in Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Punjab from November 28,” Jenamani said, as quoted by news agency ANI.
