Nationals Senator Matt Canavan says the Prime Minister “failed” to stand up for Australian soliders and defend them regarding the Chinese warship incident.
Several Australian divers suffered ear injuries when a Chinese warship began operating sonar pulses nearby.
The Opposition criticised the decision to make the incident public after the APEC Summit, where Prime Minister Anthony Albanese furthered talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

“He clearly did not raise that, given he won’t be upfront with the Australian people,” Mr Canavan told Sky News Australia.
“The Chinese – they are clearly testing Australian officials, just pushing and seeing how far they can push – the Prime Minister failed that test.”
