It’s a sad day for biscuit lovers, as Nestlé has announced they are discontinuing two popular items — Breakaway bars and Yorkie Biscuit Bars.
The chocolate biscuit snacks have been a staple in lunch boxes for children and adults alike over the years, and many will be sad to see them go in March 2024.
First launched in 1970 by Rowntree Mackintosh, Breakaway has been around for 54 years, and has been under the Nestlé umbrella since 1988, when they acquired the brand.
The biscuit bar is described as a tasty combination of crisp biscuit and smooth chocolate, made with 100% wholemeal, oat and coconut flavours to give it a unique flavour and texture.
According to Nestlé, a decline in sales is the reason for the products getting the boot.

Instead the confectionery giants are keen to focus on their ‘best-performing brands’ such as Blue Riband.
As such, they’ll be launching a brand new flavour of the popular treat, Blue Riband Hazelnut. The delicious bar people know and love, with a smooth hazelnut filling between the wafer layers.
This will be available in supermarkets across the UK from February.
Shoppers wanting to get their hands on Breakaway and Yorkie Biscuit Bars (not to be confused with the iconic Yorkie chocolate) will have to be fast.
The products will only be available in Sainsbury’s stores throughout February and March, but only while stocks last.

A spokesperson for Nestlé UK & Ireland said: ‘We know fans will be disappointed to see it go, but it’s time for us to say goodbye to Breakaway.
‘We have seen a decline in the sales of Breakaway over the past few years and unfortunately, we had to make the difficult decision to discontinue it.
‘By saying goodbye to Breakaway, we can focus on our best-performing brands, as well as develop exciting new innovations to delight consumers’ tastebuds.’
They added: ‘While we know it’s also sad to see Yorkie Biscuit go, we want to assure shoppers that we have plenty of exciting new products lined up for 2024. Watch this space.’
This comes after Nestlé sparked outrage with their decision to scrap Caramac bars last year.
The caramel-based bar’s disappearance left fans fuming, with one X user (formerly known as Twitter), writing: ‘Without wishing to overreact or indulge in hyperbole, Nestlé scrapping Caramac is worse than Stalin.’
Another asked: ‘What kind of b***ard would be so evil?’
While a third said: ‘Genuinely screw you for killing Caramac off, only bar that was actually nice.’

But it’s not all doom and gloom for those with a sweet tooth, as Nestlé did recently confirm that a limited edition ‘favourite’ is coming back to a major supermarket.
The KitKat Chunky White with Lotus Biscof has returned to Tesco stores nationwide this month, after previously being sold last year.
After a successful trial run in 2023, the decadent chocolate bar is back for another 12 weeks. And if all goes well, it will be launching across all supermarkets later this year. Hurrah!
And if it’s the Milky Bar Crispy Rolls that you’ve been missing from your life of late, then we’ve got more good news for you.
The sweet treat, which was officially axed in 2022, has been spotted in Home Bargains.
The chocolate bar recently featured on a list of the most missed snacks in the UK, so many will likely be glad to get their hands on it once more.
Also on the list were Vice Versas, a chocolate snack that debuted in 1991, Calippo Shots, Panda Pops, Mars Delights, and Mars Planets
