Best Dishes to Try in Bangkok This Week: Luna by Clara, IGNIV, and more
It’s the end of the month and not quite December yet, but it still feels pretty festive, what with American Thanksgiving already done and Loy Krathong just about to begin. So, if you’re in the mood to celebrate – no matter what the occasion – these three dining spots have plenty on the menu to whet your appetite.

Book your table now for the special monthly Sunday Brunch at IGNIV Bangkok
Don’t miss the new, once-a-month Swiss-inspired Sunday brunch at IGNIVMake your way to the St. Regis Bangkok hotel this weekend and join Head Chef David Hartwig, Pastry & Sous Chef Arnie Riehn, and the rest of the team at IGNIV restaurant for a very special Sunday Brunch menu. Celebrating the flavours of the Swiss Alps, as well as other favourites from Chef David’s homeland, this culinary journey takes place on the final Sunday of each month, so you best make your reservations now for November 26, or else you’ll have to wait till December 24 (which doesn’t sound like a bad idea either). Priced at THB 1,900++ per person, excluding beverages, this afternoon feast runs from noon to 3pm, leaving you plenty of time to savour the inventive mix of modern and classic Swiss specialties, featuring different breads, appetisers, classic egg dishes, and not-to-be-missed desserts and pastries. Diners can choose from a large selection of savoury and sweet add-on items too, such as truffle French toast, waffles with crème fraiche and caviar, and more (cost varies by selection). In addition, a variety of drinks, including an extended wine by the glass list and a special cocktail menu, is also available.
For more information and advance reservations, visit IGNIV restaurant.
Don’t miss Chef Simone Scarparo’s fabulous tasting menus at Luna by Clara
Try the fantastic new Koh Samui-inspired tasting menus at Luna by ClaraWith its tropical, Koh Samui-inspired design vibes, Luna by Clara is a fantastic new addition to Bangkok’s fine dining scene. The venture stems from a partnership between Chef Simone Scarparo, who handles kitchen duties at the restaurant, and Chef Christian Martena of Clara (which explains the name). And although it’s a “pop-up”, it will be occupying its spot on Naradiwas Soi 10 – formerly Capucine – for the next six months at least. The food focus is on sustainability, and using exceptional local ingredients sourced exclusively within Thailand. There are two menus to choose from – five-courses (THB 1,800++) or eight-courses (THB 2,800++) – and if you opt for eight you’ll be treated first to an incredible array of bite size starters before moving on to dishes like thinly sliced baby octopus served with homemade bottarga (cured fish roe), and hoi job Thai scallop with Nordic dressing, shallot and dill. Another highlight is seeing mackerel cooked in beeswax served with fresh honeycomb, but the real knockout is the Khao Yai duck with Jerusalem artichoke and Chiang Mai blackberry. Excellent wines by the bottle are available too, as well as curated pairing options (THB 1,200 THB++/ THB 1,800++).

Dine by the river at Thiptara restaurant and try the new Thonburi-inspired a la carte menu
Celebrate Peninsula Bangkok’s 25th anniversary at Thiptara riverside restaurantBack when King Takin founded Thonburi Town, it became a melting pot for various nationalities, including Thai Siamese, Portuguese, Chinese, and Vietnamese. This unique convergence of cultures and ethnicities gave rise to a fusion of cuisines, and you still find some of these culinary traditions being preserved and passed down through local restaurants in the area. At The Peninsula Bangkok this history is being presented by Chef Monnipa Rungthong via a new à la carte menu at Thiptara, the hotel’s lovely riverside restaurant – coinciding with the property’s overall 25th anniversary celebrations. Choose from such Thonburi-inspired delicacies as Gaeng ngao ngod pla sang ga wad (spicy soup with river fish, yellow chili and sweet basil: THB 450++); Mhee krob leen lhee (stir-fried crispy rice vermicelli with river prawn, duck egg and chive: THB 720++); and Khao phra ram lhong song (steamed rice and Australian beef striploin with morning glory, and peanut curry sauce: THB 780++). And if you have a sweet tooth, ask about the ‘25 Sweets Culinary Experience’, which dives deep into the world of Thonburi’s traditional sweet desserts (THB 2,000 per person).
