Only Murders in the Building is switching things up for season 4.
Following the dramatic season 3 finale in October 2023, the hit Hulu series was renewed for another season.
Starring Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez, the show follows three New Yorkers living on the Upper West Side who share a love of true crime podcasts and end up finding themselves in the middle of (a few) true crimes.
Last season saw the inclusion of several A-list actors, including Paul Rudd, Meryl Streep and Jesse Williams, and this season promises to be just as star-studded.
Here’s everything to know about Only Murders in the Building season 4, from the cast to the change of scenery.
Which Only Murders in the Building cast members are returning for season 4?

It’s likely that the show’s stars Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez will all be back for the new season. Seeing as the season 3 finale ended with Jane Lynch’s character Sazz Pataki getting shot, the Glee alum will probably make an appearance in the new season as well through flashbacks.
It’s unclear if Meryl Streep and Jesse Williams will be back, but showrunner John Hoffman is certainly hoping for their return. “I love them both, Jesse and Meryl, everyone. I mean, for God’s sakes, I would bring Paul back if we can,” he told The Hollywood Reporter. “Listen, I would bring everyone back, and that might happen. Victims, killers, they’re all able to play in the landscape within this sort of certain narrative ways we can tell our stories.”
What will Only Murders in the Building season 4 be about?
Hulu
Per The Hollywood Reporter, the new season will see Mabel, Charles and Oliver “searching for answers about who killed Sazz, if they were actually aiming for Charles and why anyone would want to kill either of them.”
Hoffman adds that the new season will explore the theme of “consequences.” “I think the idea of what you create is a thing you put out to the world, and sometimes you can’t be prepared for the repercussions of what potentially the world does with your thing, and how they feel about it,” he told the publication.
“That’s a challenging line to walk, and sometimes you have to face it in that way,” he continued. “So, the podcast and everything else that’s happened, and what it all means, and what it could have been meaning all along. That’s a really interesting world to look at for these three who stepped in that way.”

Like seasons past, the upcoming installment will introduce a handful of new faces. In February 2024, Deadline reported that actress and Saturday Night Live alum Molly Shannon would be playing “a high powered LA business woman who finds herself drawn into the world of the investigation in NY.”
Where will Only Murders in the Building season 4 be set?

The new season will have a change of scenery when it returns. During an interview with Deadline, Disney Television Group President Craig Erwich revealed that season 4 will see the core trio take a trip to Los Angeles before returning to The Arconia in New York City.
When does Only Murders in the Building season 4 film?

Seeing as filming hasn’t kicked off yet, it’s unclear when season 4 will be released. If it follows the release schedule of past seasons, it will likely come out in late 2024. Meanwhile, the first three seasons of the show are currently streaming on Hulu.
