kkr vs lsg: shamar joseph hammered on debut, concedes 15 runs in 1 ball
Shamar Joseph, the young West Indies fast bowler, announced his arrival on the big stage with a forgettable spell on his IPL debut for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens.
The Guyanese pacer, known for his express pace, lived up to his reputation, clocking speeds in excess of 150 kph (93 mph) during his opening over.
However, his raw pace hardly rattled the KKR openers – Sunil Narines and Phil Salt as they smashed him for fun in his first over.
Joseph, who impressed in the Test series against Australia, brought that same aggression to the IPL. His searing deliveries had the Eden Gardens crowd buzzing excitedly, and the commentators lauded his raw talent.
But it all went haywire after he ended up bowling and gave away 22 runs in his first over.

Incidentally, he gave away just eight runs in his first five balls but conceded 15 runs off the last – courtesy of 1nb, 1w, 5w, 1nb, and a 6.
Meanwhile, Sunil Narine’s miserly spell in the middle overs and Mitchell Starc’s brilliant final over, which yielded two wickets for six runs, helped Kolkata Knight Riders restrict Lucknow Super Giants to 161/7 on Sunday.
LSG were reduced to 111/5 inside 15 overs, LSG got a recovery in the back end with Nicholas Pooran’s counter-attacking innings. Pooran smashed four sixes and two fours. Just when he was closing in on his fifty, Starc (3/28) had the last laugh in the final over.
The IPL’s record buy Australian, who was heavily criticised for taking just two wickets from four matches and leaking 11 runs per over, dismissed a dangerous-looking Pooran (45 off 32 balls) when the West Indian batter slashed at an away going delivery to be gloved by Phil Salt. Starc then dismissed Arshad Khan in the final delivery as LSG managed just six runs in the last over.
