Delhi: Water Supply to Be Affected on November 29-30 in THESE Areas, Here’s Why

The Delhi Jal Board announced that water supply in several areas of the national capital, including Rohini will be affected on Wednesday and Thursday due to a shutdown at the interconnection of the water main at the Keshopur drain and the Peeragarhi Chowk.

While making the announcement on X, the board advised residents to store sufficient water as per requirement. They also said that water tankers will be available on request.

The DJB said, “Due to shutdown of interconnection at Keshopur drain and Peeragarhi Chowk (Rohtak Road) from 10 am to 10 pm on November 29, the water supply in several colonies/areas will not be available/will be available at low pressure from the evening of November 29 to morning November 30.”

The areas that will be affected due to the shortage in water supply are Rohini Sector- 7, 8, 9, 11, 13, 22, 23 and 25, Madhuban chowk, Mangolpuri, Sultanpuri, Paschim Vihar, Major Bhupender Singh Nagar, Mahavir Nagar, Krishna Park, Janakpuri and other adjoining areas, the post added.

Last week, Delhi minister Atishi, who was made in-charge of the Water Department in place of minister Saurabh Bharadwaj a few months ago warned that the national capital may soon witness severe shortage of water. She also said that there is a “danger of epidemic” due to the same.

Atishi further alleged that all the funds of the Jal Board was stopped from August by finance secretary Ashish Verma, on the request of the chief secretary.

“Funds are not being released even after the written order of the finance minister. There’s no money even for salary and routine work,” the minister said, adding that all contractors have refused to work.

“There may be severe water shortage, dirty water and sewer overflow in many areas in the coming days,” Atishi warned.
