Eight players who served 500+ aces during 2023 ATP season with one big server in a class of his own

eight players who served 500+ aces during 2023 atp season with one big server in a class of his own

Hubert Hurkacz serves during a match

One player served more than 1,000 aces during the 2023 ATP Tour season, another three managed to crack the 600-ace mark and four other players served 500-plus aces.

Hubert Hurkacz was well clear of the pack as he was the only player to crack the 1,000-ace milestone as he reached that record at the beginning of November.

The Pole is one of only nine players to serve 1,000 aces during a single season and he added a few more to his total before the 2023 campaign came to an end.

Christopher Eubanks just missed the 500-mark cut as the American finished on 498 aces in 41 matches while John Isner also missed out as he served 480 aces in 23 matches.

Most Aces Served In 2023

8. Ben Shelton – 505 aces (50 matches)

Playing in his first full season as a professional, Ben Shelton has become well known for his booming serves and he makes the cut with 505 aces.

Don’t be surprised if Shelton serves 1,000 aces a season over the next few years as that left arm is a bullet.

7. Alexander Bublik – 543 (48 matches)

The mercurial Alexander Bublik is perhaps better known for his trick shots than his serve, but he regularly features in the top 10 for most aces.

Back in 2021 he topped the list for most aces served during the season as he sent down 840.

6. Stefanos Tsitsipas – 547 (71 matches)

Greek star Stefanos Tsitsipas has a brilliant all-round game and it means his potent serve is often forgotten as one of his big weapons.

Tsitsipas had a serve rating of 291.3 during the 2023 season as he won 78.2% of first serve points while he won 88.6% of his service games – the second stat saw him finish just ahead of Novak Djokovic who was on 88.4%.

5. Daniil Medvedev – 547 (84 matches)

At 6’6″ (1.98m), Daniil Medvedev uses his height to produce big serves as he averaged 6.9 aces per match during the 2023 campaign.

Interestingly, his serve rating of 277.2 puts him in 21st place on the Serve Standing list for this year as he won 75.1% of his first serve points and 84.8% of his service games.

4. Alexander Zverev – 613 (80 matches)

After an injury-disrupted 2022 season saw him finish outside the top 30 for most aces, Alexander Zverev is back up in the top 10 this year as he passed the 600-ace mark.

The German’s serve rating was 283.8 with 74.0% of first-serve points won, but it was his second serve that let him down as he won only 49.5% of his second-serve points.

3. Andrey Rublev – 616 (82 matches)

Andrey Rublev finished third on the list, but he was down in 19th place for service rating with 278.3 points.

The world No 5 won 75.3% of his first serve points, 51.4% of his second serve points and 84.5% of his service games during the 2023 ATP Tour season.

2. Taylor Fritz – 692 (77 matches)

Taylor Fritz’s 2023 season fizzled out due to injury and, as a result, he just missed out on the 700-ace milestone. The 692 aces this year is his best season to date as he passed the 642 he served during the 2022 season.

He finished sixth in the Service Standing list with a rating of 287.6.

1. Hubert Hurkacz – 1,031 (69 matches)

Hubert Hurkacz leads the ace count with 1,031 aces as he averaged 15.2 aces per match during the season. The 26-year-old also topped the service rating with 295.5 while he won 88.0% of his service games.

Interestingly, the Pole averaged only 2.0 double faults per match, which is remarkably low for someone with such a high ace count. One area that counted against Hurkacz was the second serve as he won only 50.7% of his service points.
