Formula 1 has unveiled the ‘Formula 1 Channel’, a new subscription-free, streaming service targeted at American audiences. Launching before the Miami Grand Prix, it aims to cater to diverse viewing habits with a wealth of racing content.
For motorsports enthusiasts across the United States, Formula 1 has launched a dedicated streaming channel that requires no subscription. Known as the ‘Formula 1 Channel’, this new media venture is set to go live just in time for the Miami Grand Prix, offering fans around-the-clock access to a variety of F1-related content.
This channel will feature an extensive array of programming, catering specifically to the interests and viewing preferences of American fans. From race replays and highlights of F1, F2, F3, and the F1 Academy to complete reruns of classic Grands Prix and select racing documentaries, the channel promises comprehensive coverage of the world of Formula 1. All content for the feeder series and the F1 Academy will be made available five days after each Grand Prix, ensuring fans don’t miss a beat of the racing action.
Ian Holmes, Director of Media Rights and Content Creation at Formula 1, highlighted the channel’s broad appeal in a press release, as quoted by Pit Pass:
“The Formula 1 Channel is the latest development by F1 designed to further evolve and elevate our content experience for fans. This service caters to the diverse viewing habits of our USA fan-base and serves as a great entry point for new fans into the sport, through strong curated programming, which aims to showcase the drama of F1.
“Together with C15 Studio, we hope to develop the Formula 1 Channel into an industry-leading product, that serves alongside our existing live broadcast offering with ESPN and F1 TV, to give fans a truly comprehensive F1 experience 24 hours a day, seven days a week.”
Operated by C15 Studio and available on platforms such as Samsung TV Plus, Amazon Freevee, and Pluto TV, the Formula 1 Channel makes accessing premium motorsport content easier than ever. It smartly complements existing live broadcast options provided by ESPN and Formula 1’s own subscription-based streaming service, F1 TV, enhancing the overall content delivery framework for U.S. viewers.
The introduction of this channel aligns with the increasing demand for Formula 1 in the United States, where the sport has seen a surge in popularity. This move is anticipated to reinforce fan engagement, drawing in a crowd from the over 42 million strong fan base in the country. With television viewership figures reaching record highs, launching a free ad-supported streaming (FAST) channel fits perfectly into an evolving market landscape where digital content consumption is booming.
