First Human Case of Flu Similar to Pigs Virus Found in UK | All You Know To Know
The first human case of flu strain A(H1N2)v, which is similar to a virus currently circulating in pigs, was detected in the United Kingdom, authorities said on Monday.
The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) said that the patient had experienced a mild illness and fully recovered. The infection was detected as part of routine national flu surveillance and the source of infection was not known.
“This is the first time we have detected this virus in humans in the UK, though it is very similar to viruses that have been detected in pigs,” UKHSA incident director Meera Chand said.

- It’s the first time this one has been detected in the UK and close contacts are now being traced.
- In the past 20 years there have been 50 human cases of A(H1N2)v reported around the world, BBC reported
There is no evidence of the A(H1N2)v flu strain spreading from person to person.
