Reacher Season 2 has reached its explosive conclusion, with Jack Reacher (Alan Ritchson) and the members of his old Army unit unraveling the conspiracy of who killed their colleagues. The plot is a bit too complicated and spoiler-y to get into here so soon after the finale was released on Prime Video, but you can be sure that Shane Langston (Robert Patrick) got what was coming to him.

Prime Video renewed the massively popular action drama before Season 2 had even premiered, and work is already well underway on Season 3. Here’s everything we know about Reacher Season 3 so far.

Reacher Season 3 release date

TLDR: Hopefully Reacher Season 3 will be out in the first half of 2025.

THE DETAILS: Star Alan Ritchson announced the renewal in December from the Season 3 set, which means the next season is already written and in production. Hopefully the wait will be shorter than the nearly two-year gap between Seasons 1 and 2 — and since they’re already shooting, we anticipate it will be. Conservatively estimating that Season 3 will come 18 months after Season 2 would put the premiere in June 2025. Hopefully it’s sooner than that. We’ll see.

THE DETAILS: There’s no Reacher without Alan Ritchson, so he’ll be back. As for the rest of the cast, that’s a big TBA.

Reacher Season 3 source material

TLDR: While the book Season 3 is based on has not been announced yet, we know it will be a solo story.

THE DETAILS: Reacher is based on a series of novels by Lee Child. Each season adapts a different book. In an interview with The Messenger, Child said that after two seasons that heavily featured Reacher’s backstory — Season 1, based on Killing Floor, was about his family, and Season 2, based on Bad Luck and Trouble, was about his time in the Army — Season 3 will be a true standalone story, with Reacher flying solo, the way he really likes it.

“We felt we needed a book that was more Reacher alone for the third season,” Child said. “And so it was a question of which story would work best for that, and which one would have a great opening scene and all of that, and we found one that we loved.” He anticipates that Prime Video will announce the book pretty soon.

Alan Ritchson said in an interview with Cinemablend that Season 3 will be based on one of his favorite Reacher books, and that it’s one of most fans’ favorites. “This is like on every Top 10 list,” he said. “This is going to make people very happy, this book.”

A Reacher fan on Reddit pointed out that a character in Season 2 makes a reference to going to Key West that’s so needlessly specific that it feels like a clue that Season 3 will be based on Tripwire, the third Reacher novel, which is set in Key West. It’s a fan-favorite, but also has connections to Reacher’s past in a way that doesn’t fit with the concept Child described. Hopefully it’s announced soon and we can put an end to our speculation.
