Funeral details announced for Greta Price-Martin (22) who died while cycling to work in Dublin

The funeral details for Greta Price-Martin, who died this week after her bicycle was struck by a truck in Dublin, have been announced.

The 22-year-old was cycling to work on Wednesday when her bicycle was struck by a truck at the junction of the Glenageary Road Upper, Mountown Road Lower and Kill Avenue in Dún Laoghaire, Co Dublin at around 8am

Ms Price-Martin, who was from Templetown, Co Louth, and Dún Laoghaire, died at St Vincent’s Hospital on Wednesday.

Her friends and family will gather at Quinn’s Funeral Home on Bridge Street, Dundalk on Sunday from 3pm until 7pm.

The gathering will take place ahead of a funeral ceremony in the Victorian Chapel of Mount Jerome Crematorium in Harold’s Cross, Co Dublin on Monday at 4pm, followed by cremation.

“Greta had just finished her first year at IADT and just started her first job in film production, with everything ahead of her, when she was struck down cycling to work,” her death notice said.

“She will live on in the hearts and minds of her many family and friends.”

Her family thanked the staff of St Vincent’s hospital, “who did their best”.

She is survived by her parents Breffni and Vanessa, sister, Ruth, brothers Jack and Louis, partner Charlie, grandmother, aunts, uncles, cousins and wider family and friends.

Her friends and colleagues continue to pay tribute to the “wonderful filmmaker” and a “sweetheart with a heart of gold”.

Others described her as a “lovely girl” who “left her mark”, and “a beautiful person” who was “incredibly welcoming, strong, genuine and invested in those around her”.

Vanessa Gildea, head of the National Film School at IADT said: “Words cannot express our sadness, shock and heartbreak at Greta’s passing, and at the loss of a much valued and cherished student and friend.

“We will miss her desperately, she was bright and brilliant. Sending you heartfelt condolences at this terrible time of grief, from all the staff and students of The National Film School IADT.”
