Hardik Pandya on his Mumbai Indians homecoming: ‘It has not sunk in yet, finally back where my whole cricketing journey started’

After much anticipation and buzz around the cricket world, the Mumbai Indians finally confirmed the return of Hardik Pandya back to the franchise after a couple years at Gujarat Titans.

For the GT skipper, who led the franchise to a maiden season win in 2022 and another final appearance this year, the return however is yet to sink in.

In a recently posted video from the franchise on their social media, Pandya shares, “The feeling of coming back to Mumbai is very special for a lot of reasons. How my cricketing journey started in 2015 with MI, them noticing me in 2013.”

Pandya was part of the five-time IPL winners for a total of seven seasons, of which Mumbai won four. “When I look back, the whole span of 10 years has been something very special. It has not sunk in yet that I’m finally back where my whole cricketing journey started. I have achieved all the possible things.

“They have been the most important part of my life. Special bond with Akash and the family, they have been through my thick and thin. It is much more emotional because it feels like I’m coming back to my home, my family where it all started,” Pandya added.

It was ahead of the mega auction in 2022 that the all-rounder was bought by the Titans as their first-ever player, a move that saw them clinch the title in their first ever IPL season. On Sunday however, Pandya was traded back to his first franchise in a one-way deal with Gujarat.
