dhruv jurel has worked hard: kumar sangakkara elated after young wicketkeeper gets maiden india call-up
Rajasthan Royals head coach Kumar Sangakkara has said that he is elated with Dhruv Jurel receiving his maiden call-up into the Indian team, adding that it is a result of his hard work. The BCCI selection committee led by Ajit Agarkar named a 16-man team for the first two Tests against England, that begin on January 25 in Hyderabad.
The 22-year-old Jurel was a surprise inclusion amongst the three wicketkeeping options named in the team. He earned his maiden call-up to the India team, in any format, as the back-up keeper to KL Rahul, who had kept wickets in the two Tests in South Africa, and KS Bharat.
Jurel got his maiden India call-up as Ishan Kishan remains out of the Indian side following a pullout from the South Africa series due to mental fatigue. He has impressed with his performances in his maiden IPL campaign, where he played the finisher role for Rajasthan.

“He is a fantastic young man. He is a really good player who has worked really hard to get where he is. He understands pressure. He came in last season in one of the most difficult positions and scored so many runs for us,” Sangakkara told the media in Paarl.
The former Sri Lanka cricketer was happy about Rajasthan’s contribution to producing young players for the Indian side.
“Very proud and happy because one of our key motivators and one of our key kind of performance indicators away from the IPL is producing players for India and we have produced quite a lot over the years and Dhruv being a new addition,” Sangakkara added.

Rajasthan bagged the services of Jurel for just Rs 20 lakhs in IPL 2022 and the young wicketkeeper emerged as their explosive finisher.
While there are very less chances of Jurel being able to make his Test debut against England, there might be a possibility if India bag a quick 3-0 series win.
